TV

Last night, I decided to turn on the TV. I don't watch much TV, the television usually only comes on in my apartment for about an hour a week.

So I turn on the TV with my remote (mainly for a light to get from the switch to my bed) and there is an infomercial on for an air purifier.

I switched the channel.

At the next station, I found an infomercial for skin care products.

The next channel produced an infomercial for vitamins.

On the fourth try, I found an infomercial for breast enlargement.

I left the TV on the NASA channel, watching the shuttle orbit the Earth. For about two minutes.

There was another channel of a guy complaining that the government is out to get him. That was a little frightening and paranoid.

I turned off the TV and went to sleep.

This is why I don't watch TV.

TV is highly overrated. We don't have cable. The 2 channels that we do get are fuzzy and will give you a headache if you watch for too long. We watch a lot of movies. I think the people at the rental place wonder sometimes why two people who look too young to have two kids (ages 1 and 3) and never seem to have their kids with them when they go to rent the movies are renting adultish type movies (not talking about porn here) but also rent movies for children like Barney and Dora the Explorer and stuff like that.

Apparently the advertising powers that be are targeting those insomniac, conspiracy theory-loving, sci-fi geeks who have bad skin, need to take vitamins and need to breathe better air (which is probably because they are hiding from a) the government or b) the aliens or c) both). Oh, and unfortunately, they have small breasts.

Which is a little frightening because when I think of an insomniac, conspiracy theory-loving sci-fi geek with bad skin and poor health, I usually picture a guy. Which is sexist of me and I should know better. Bad Dana! Bad!
